Located in Rochester, Kent, The Royal Victoria and Bull Hotel is a traditional coaching inn over 400 years old.
The present Inn is some four hundred years old, though it is believed that another Inn stood on the same site. “The Bull” was a coaching Inn on the Dover-London road. During the coaching days, the courtyard was larger with stables at the rear.
One of the Hotel’s most famous visitors was Princess Victoria, later to become Queen who stayed on the night of 29th November 1836. The Royal Coat of Arms is still displayed over the entrance to the courtyard. Perhaps the Hotel’s greatest claim to fame though is through Charles Dickens. Dickens stayed here on many occasions and featured the Hotel in two of his most famous works “The Pickwick Papers” and “Great Expectations”.

Rochester Cathedral and Rochester Castle are a mere five minute stroll away. Rochester train station is only three minutes walk away and The Guildhall museum is right in front of the property.
